Tablescape Thursday- Secret Garden!

Welcome to Tablescape Thursday hosted by Susan of the blog, "Between Naps on the Porch". This is a fabulous collection of beautiful tablescapes.

Since spring has officially arrived, I couldn't help but think about gardening. Planning is essential so what better way to plan for the garden than a pretty garden tablescape! You couldn't help but be inspired here.

The foundation of our tablescape is a white tablecloth and green toile runner.

I added the Secret Garden sign, that currently is on my porch. I purchased it a few years ago at a little shop in suburbia. I knew when I saw the sign, I just had to have it.

I started with a green circular placemat then added Spode Fine Bone China and a plaid green and white napkin. I tied the napkin in a green and white plaid organza ribbon. I accented the napkin with a beautiful green bird with gold glitter on it's tail. It clips onto the napkin; I purchased the bird from Michael's The flatware is Lunt stainless 18/8 in a pattern called, "Hillsboro". I purchased this pattern back in the early eighties when I was going to college; it was going to be my everyday pattern. Back then, the 18/8 was not as popular as it is today. I remember when I went in to Marshall Field's to purchase my first place setting; it was over $50 a place setting on sale and I thought that was the price for all eight sets! I purchased each set every week for eight weeks until I had a complete set. That was a lot of money back then for a college student; I worked full time and went to school full time to pay my way through school.

Here's a close up of the "Secret Garden" sign. I love it because it looks old. I think that makes a garden look pretty and less sterile.

To the left, is a white ceramic basket with green apples. A friend of mine came over a few days after I took these pictures and ate one of the apples. He said he hoped it was o.k. and that it wasn't an apple for "tablescaping". That made me laugh. because I didn't think he paid any attention to the tablescapes on my blog. I said they were for eating.

Here is a pretty little bunny sitting in the lettuce patch! I tied a little pink ribbon on her and placed her on an inverted Waterford candlestick to give the tablescape some height.

In the middle of the table are my pretty white birdies from Michael's. I love the little holes in them since it adds such wonderful texture to the tablescape.

Moving around to the right of the table are the garden tools.

We have a green garden hoe, some pretty garden gloves, a few packets of seed and a handsome bunny.

I tied a pretty green and white plaid organza ribbon on the hoe for a feminine touch.

Here is a close up view of the bunnies. I purchased these little seed packets probably fifteen years ago however if you look closely at the bunny sitting in the lettuce above, it looks like they were a set. They were purchased over ten years apart at different stores.
